Pure Fruit/Vegetable Purees

Ages 3-8 months

Makes 1 cup per recipe.

 

 

Fruit

Apple

Avocado

Banana

Ingredients

2 lrg (400g) apples

2 tbsp water

 

 

Method

1. Peel, core and roughly chop apples.

2. Mix fruit and water in a medium saucepan and bring to the boil.

3. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until tender. Approx. 10 minutes in total.

4. Blend/process until smooth.

Ingredients

2 sm (400g) avocados

 

 

 

Method

1. Peel, seed and roughly chop avocado.

2. Blend/process until smooth.

Ingredients

2 med. (400g) bananas

Avoid bananas with too much green on them as some kids are allergic.

Method

1. Peel and roughly chop bananas.

2. Blend/process until smooth.

Custard Apple

Pear

Rockmelon

Ingredients

400g Avocado

 

 

Method

1. Peel, seed and roughly chop custard apple.

2. Blend/process until smooth.

Ingredients

1 lrg (330g) pear

2 tbsp water

 

Method

1. Peel, core and roughly chop pear.

2. Mix fruit and water in a medium saucepan and bring to the boil.

3. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until tender. Approx. 20 minutes in total.

4. Blend/process until smooth.

Ingredients

500g rockmelon

 

 

Method

1. Peel, seed and roughly chop rockmelon – ensuring all green areas are removed.

2. Blend/process until smooth.

Vegetables

Carrot

Cauliflower

Ingredients

250g broccoli

2 tbsp water

 

Method

1. Cut into florets and roughly chop.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 8 minutes), then drain.

3. Blend/process with liquid until smooth.

Ingredients

2 lrg (360g) carrots

2 tbsp water

 

Method

1. Trim ends, peel and chop carrots roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 15 minutes), then drain.

3. Blend/process with liquid until smooth.

Ingredients

250g cauliflower

 

 

Method

1. Trim stem and cut into florets.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 8 minutes), drain.

3. Blend/process until smooth.

Kumara/Sweet Potato

Pumpkin

Ingredients

1 medium (400g) kumara/sweet potato.

1 tbsp water

 

Method

1. Peel and chop kumara roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 20 minutes), drain.

3. Blend/process with liquid until smooth.

Ingredients

2 med. (400g) potatoes

2 tbsp water

 

 

Method

1. Peel and chop potato roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 20 minutes), drain.

3. Push potato through a sieve.

4. Blend/process with liquid until smooth.

Ingredients

400g pumpkin

 

 

 

Method

1. Peel, remove seeds, and chop pumpkin roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 12 minutes), drain.

3. Push pumpkin through sieve.

4. Blend/process until smooth.

Spinach

Squash

Zucchini

Ingredients

250g spinach

1 tbsp water

 

Method

1. Trim ends and chop spinach roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 8 minutes), drain.

3. Blend/process with liquid until smooth.

Ingredients

300g squash

 

 

Method

1. Trim ends and chop squash roughly.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 12 minutes), drain.

3. Blend/process until smooth.

Ingredients

2 lrg (300g) zucchini

 

 

Method

1. Trim ends, peel and chop.

2. Steam until tender (approx. 7 minutes), drain.

3. Blend/process until smooth.

 

For new taste sensations try combining 2 or more ingredients, whether it be fruit only or fruit and vege, or vege only. Just follow the instructions for each ingredient and combine during blending/processing.

Note: Water can be replaced by breastmilk or formula if you choose.
