I took my 5 year old son to see Up and we both loved it. It really lives up to the standard Disney Pixar have created. In the first 5 minutes I was crying and fully drawn into the film. (Yes I know it’s just a cartoon.) Zac started to cry not long after I did, but was laughing a minute later, thanks to the magic of Disney.
Up is a story about following your dreams and keeping promises you make to yourself and other people. It’s about achieving the impossible and living life along the way. The journey starts with an old man keeping a promise to his late wife, but discovers there are so many things to enjoy along the way.
Children and adults of all ages will love this film. I looked around the cinema to see kids enthralled, not able to take their eyes from the screen. This would be a great first movie to take kids to. There are a few small scary parts where the dogs are chasing the heroes, but these are short lived and something funny happens quickly afterwards. In the packed cinema we saw it in no child cried, or left early.
Parents will get as much out of this beautiful film as children do. This is one of the best children’s movies I’ve seen. If you get the chance, see it in 3D. If there’s only one film you see these school holidays, this should be it. Enjoy.
